From the historic bungalows to the unique stores and restaurants, I feel very fortunate to live in the beautiful city of Pasadena. As someone who loves to explore my neighborhood and feel part of my community, I enjoy visiting as many new places as I can in Pasadena, especially when it comes to food.
Whether you’ve lived in Pasadena all your life or are coming into town for a meeting at our office or a weekend trip, I wanted to share with you my three favorite restaurants in Pasadena.
Houston’s
When I think of a classic steakhouse, I think of Houston’s. From the jazz music to the intimate lighting, Houston’s makes for an excellent choice when you are in the mood for a celebratory dinner or nice date night out.
I recommend the Hawaiian ribeye, which they’re famous for, but they also make a delicious salmon if you aren’t big on red meat. And if you love artichokes, you must get the grilled California artichokes appetizer. They are locally grown and full of flavor.
True Food Kitchen
I believe life is all about balance, and that includes food. While some nights I love a good pizza, I also enjoy a meal that leaves me feeling nourished and healthy. When I want something that’s both delicious and healthy, I go to True Food Kitchen. I always recommend this restaurant to families with diverse eaters, as they have a variety of gluten-free, organic, vegetarian, and vegan offerings from which to choose.
When I’m particularly hungry, I order the grass-fed burger, which features umami mushrooms and caramelized onion. For a lighter option, I like the ancient grains bowl, which has a mix of vegetables, and I’ll add chicken or salmon.
La Grande Orange Café
Lastly, when I want to enjoy a complete dining experience, I head to La Grande Orange. This café has such a unique decor and fun ambiance. Their menu is equally as unique with amazing dishes I haven’t found elsewhere.
For a dinner that reminds you of mom’s cooking, I recommend the Half Mary’s Farm Chicken, a wood-burning rotisserie chicken with toasted garlic, garbanzo beans, and Tuscan kale.
The next time you’re considering a place for lunch or dinner, I recommend you try out one of these three spots.
