At HBA Wealth, one of our biggest passions, after financial planning, of course, is giving back to the organizations that make a difference in our world. We’re fortunate to be able to use our resources and our firm’s influence to make a difference in our community and, in a time when a lot of worthy organizations need some extra help, we wanted to share some ways we’ve done just that.
Helping The Bells Ring Again
The stunning St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Pasadena, located across the street from our offices, is known for its hourly bell ringing. These bells became a part of our routine, so much so that every time we heard them, we would take a moment of mindfulness, relaxing our bodies, and becoming aware of our breathing.
But one day, they stopped ringing. When we found out the original bells needed to be restored, we joined with the church to host a charity event and raise money to start the process. The community came together for a fun block party and raised almost $12,000 to get the bells ringing again!
Dealing Cards For A Cause
We love celebrating our community, so we try to make our charity events both fun and productive! Pre-COVID-19, we held the 4th annual YWCA Big Deal Poker Party to raise money for TechGyrlz, an after-school program that empowers girls to innovate and explore their passions through hands-on STEM activities. With a photo booth, plenty of laughter, and even a deejay, we had a blast while raising money for an important cause.
The Power Of Art
It’s not wise to hold large events right now, but we don’t want to stop our giving just because of outside circumstances. That’s why we recently gave of our resources to support The Academy of Special Dreams art exhibit at The ALHAMBRA. The Academy of Special Dreams provides a place for artists with special needs to showcase their incredible talent and celebrate inclusivity and brings awareness to the creative skills of those with disabilities. The Uniting Borders 2020-2021 EMPOWERING ARTISTS Virtual Art Exhibition runs from September 2020 to February 2021 and is more than worth your time!
