Giving Thanks In 2020

November 18, 2020

While Thanksgiving became an official holiday in 1870, Americans have been taking part in this tradition of gratitude since the Pilgrims arrived on our shores. Since then, our country has experienced wars, depressions, natural disasters, social upheavals, and international crises, and still we come together at this time of year to remember what’s important and be grateful for what we have. This year, in the middle of a global pandemic and a charged election season, we think it’s more important than ever to celebrate Thanksgiving and turn our minds to our many blessings.

Gratitude In Hard Times

When COVID-19 shut our country down back in March, many of us took the time to slow down, reflect on what matters to us, and be grateful for both the small and significant things in life, like health, our homes, those who work in essential businesses, and our schools. Over the past 8 months, your endurance, patience, and perspectives have probably been tested more than ever. We encourage you to use this time of year to take a deep breath, shut out the noise, and celebrate, even if it looks different than usual!

It’s All About Relationships

When we think back on 2020, the word family is what keeps coming to mind. Being a family means you are part of something wonderful and special. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life, no matter what. COVID-19, while a tragic global event, has given us opportunities to focus on our family at home and spend more time with those who mean the most to us. We know that these times and circumstances won’t last forever, so let’s turn our attention to the silver lining, the blessings and experiences that bond us together and appreciate each other as family. Even if you are not traveling to join with family this Thanksgiving or your traditions have to be modified, don’t forget to reach out to those in your life and share what they mean to you.

This is our chance to do that with you, our valued clients! We have missed having our family of clients come in and out of our offices on a daily basis and seeing you in person. We are so thankful for the technology and staff (our internal HBA family) that allows us to build our relationships and be a support for you in these times, and we look forward to connecting with you when it is safe to resume life as usual. We love our clients and colleagues that support, encourage, and trust us enough to let us be part of their journey toward living their one best financial life.

On that note, as a gift of appreciation, we decided to waive 100% of our financial planning fees for all of our existing clients for 2020. We know this year has brought unprecedented challenges and we wanted to ease the burden for our clients and lift their spirits. The $2,500 fee works out to about 10% of our annual revenue, but our clients are more important than money, and we wanted to show you how much we care about you and your life.

We hope that your Thanksgiving leaves you refreshed and recharged and ready to look forward with hope. Through it all, we are here for you and your family, just a phone call away. Since we all need a bit of a pick-me-up these days, we would like to extend our waived financial plan fee gift until December 31st for any of our friends and family who need to build their own financial plan. We’d love it if you paid our gift forward to bless someone else.
